Mail To Campus

Correct Incoming University Mailing Address

Campus Mail Services process mail by delivery addresses.  It is important that all incoming mail has the correct and complete address for quicker sorting and delivery.  All mail is delivered to the Division Office and from there to be distributed to the proper staff/faculty.  Because some offices move, do not use office numbers or building names.  Try to use the full name of the division/department instead of unknown abbreviations.  Follow the example below when giving out your address:

Your Name
Truman State University
Division or Department (Do not use office numbers)
100 E. Normal Ave.
Kirksville, MO 63501-4221

If you leave the University, please make arrangement with your supervisor to have your mail forwarded.

If your office is closed during delivery times, please leave your outgoing mail with a nearby office.  We will leave incoming mail with them.  Exception: Any accountable mail, i.e. Express Letters, Insured, Return/Certified mail will be returned to the Campus Mail Room for another attempt the next business day.  After two (2) attempts at delivery the individual/office staff will need to come to the Campus Mail Room to sign for the accountable mail.

Packages from UPS, and FedEx are delivered directly to the Residence Halls during the Fall/Spring Semesters.  The drivers do not look for the students, but have the Residence Hall staff sign for the package.Campus Mail Services do not sell postage to students.  The mail is delivered to the Residence Halls for internal sorting and delivery by their staff.  Students may use UPS.com, USPS.com, or FedEx.com to process personal items.  The package can be dropped at Campus Mail Service for pick-up by that carrier.

During the Summer Semester, UPS, FedEx, and the Post Office deliver to the Campus Mail Room where we take it to the Resident Hall for internal distribution.

During the Fall/Spring Semester accountable (Insured, Signature Confirmations, Return/Certified) mail is delivered by Campus Mail Services to the Resident Hall.  If no one is available to sign the items will go back to the Campus Mail Room for another delivery attempt the next business day.  After two (2) delivery attempts, the student will have to come to the Campus Mail Room to sign for the item.

During the Fall/Spring Semester the Kirksville Post Office will deliver Express Letters directly to the Resident Hall.  They do not look for that student, but have the Residence Hall staff sign it.

The Resident Hall staff only forwards mail for six (6) months after the end of the semester.

Students who wish to send packages early to themselves may do so, but only two weeks before Freshman Move in Week.  Those packages will be given to the Resident Hall Managers for storage until the student arrives.  If the packages arrive earlier than two weeks, they will be refused and returned to sender.
